Feeling Celebratory

Feeling celebratory this morning!

I'm celebrating completion.  Every little success I have, I like to celebrate! I'm not waiting for "the big moment" to happen. I'll celebrate then too.

Today, I'm celebrating completing the format bible for a new tv show I've created!

I'm becoming an expert in development, writing, and pitching!

Yay!

What are y'all celebrating? Any small successes?

Go Get Your's

GO GET YOUR'S!
‪

Some people usually give advice based on their personal insecurities from past failures, some people have never taken a risk a day in their lives; too afraid to fail, and some are just haters.

God should be the only one who you let tell you "No".

Even then, you know it's because he has much BIGGER plans!

GO GET YOUR'S!

The Push You Need

Today, while in Time Square I looked up and around me and there were billboards, after billboards of flashing lights; people and companies branding themselves and their ideas. I thought, "THEY BELIEVED!" It was the push I needed.

THE FACE OF DARKNESS “A Must see Film about Depression” by Emelyn Stuart

Welcome to Ufront Media Insights;

Emelyn Stuart, the Founder of Stuart films and the Ocktober Film Festival and I had the opportunity to talk about the film that I am my partner KT Nelson are directing.

Squeaky Moore the Director and Co Producer of the film Face of Darkness  which is about three African American men who chronicle their battle with depression as well as their struggle to overcome it and not be overtaken by it. Face of Darkness is character driven and it wraps itself around the stigma surrounding depression amongst Black Men… identifying it, surviving it and the journey to healing.  The film’s objective is to raise awareness of depression in African American males, the detriment of not addressing it, as well as the benefits of treatment. We hope that by exposing the illness in an artistic fashion, the African American community will not only be enlightened, but they will learn how to recognize and seek help for themselves or loved ones. So enjoy my powerful, exclusive interview about the Faces of Darkness A Journey to Healing...

Nicki Minaj on Career

I read a "Do's and Don'ts" Article in glamour magazine.  It was from Nicki Minaj, a boss women I've grown to respect over the years.  I love that she is unapologetic and she keeps making boss moves!

I remember walking into Kmart and seeing her clothing line sprawled across the clothing racks.  I was impressed.  I don't shop in Kmart much, but I loved that she catered to her fan base and didn't over price.  That was a boss move!  Like Jay Z, she moves in silence. So, I'm watching her.  I'm expecting to see bigger moves made from her.

I can learn a few thangs from Nicki.

Preparation mode...

My Work on TV!

I'm excited!!!!

Season 2 of The Positive Controversy with host Kristen Pope; a show that I am directing and producing, has a new home!  And it's on TV!

Focus Broadcast Network has licensed ten episodes of the show and along with airing on TV, it will stream online and on video of demand!  Hardwork really pays off!

As a director I couldn't be more proud of this.  I remember so recently praying to God about wanting to brand myself as a director and writer more so than a producer.  The shift in my career is taking place.  I literally feel it unfolding right before my eyes.  A few months ago as the year approaches, I declared that my work as a director be shown on TV and BAM!

I thank God for answering my prayers. He has been constantly reminding me that all I need is to trust Him to make my name great and to not put my trust in networks or companies or anyone else! So I did.  The moment I looked to Him and kept my eyes on him is when I began to see a change.  I continue to seek him concerning my career.  Boy am I ever grateful for his blessings and answered prayer!

Stay tuned for season 2 of The Positive Controversy talkshow!

Why Not Me?

I was thrilled to learn I had been nominated by someone for a "recognition award!"

(I'm learning to get used to accepting things like this.). It's what I've always wanted.  It's what I've always dreamt of... winning awards for the work that I do.  But, my first initial thought was "who me?"  I read and re-read the email trying to figure it all out.  "Why me?"

Then I thought of Marrianne Williamson's quote,

“We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?”

The New Suzy's DREAMGIRL and an excerpt from my book....STAY TUNED.

Boy was I shocked to see a blog today from Suzy Black's Dreamgirl blog (sexy lingerie for the Christian married woman) with a pic of my face on it! It totally surprised me!  But, The New Suzy is full of sexy surprises so I should have seen it coming!

So... I am sharing with you and announcing at the same time..."I am coming out with a relationship book!  AHHHH!!!!  That's right! I said it, a relationship book.  I wouldn't call myself a relationship guru, well...maybe I would...but, I know I have sure been through enough ups and downs to know a few things.  And, what I haven't gone through, I have plenty of friends both men and women, who have gone through hell, and I was there to help them during their crisis and back to earth!  lol.

#TheyALLComeBack, my book is all about break-ups, the dating game, and how to keep a relationship TURNT UP!  Lol.

I guess now the cat's out of the bag!

Oh, and "STAY TUNED!"  I just might need your input!

Check out the DREAMGIRL blog and an excerpt (TIP) from my book titled "Just Because."

Women Have To BREAK Down Doors!

This blog post was worth a repost! As a female director, I seek for more opportunities to express myself and my viewpoints creatively.  But the truth is, there aren't many given to women!  What does this mean for me you ask? This means I have to BREAK DOWN DOORS TO GET THROUGH.  I will kick them in, climb through windows and event open some doors and walk on through.  But, I'm getting through!

"There is no lack of female directors. Repeat after me: THERE IS NO LACK OF FEMALE DIRECTORS. But there is a huge lack of people willing to give female directors opportunities. I swear, if anyone near me even so much as whispers the sentence "Women probably don't want to direct," my fist will fly as a reflex action."

Are Reality Stars "Victims" of Exploitation or are They Truly Unaware?

I recently read a post by Reality TV Executive Producer, Tracey Baker-Simmons (producer of The Houstons, and Being Bobby Brown); a women I have grown to admire and respect in the business!

She writes about reality TV stars, and in my opinion, forces the viewer to differentiate between reality TV producers who "exploit" people's lives in a negative way and the individuals who are truly unaware of their fatal flaws until exposed on camera.  I think she makes very valid points and this article is something future reality TV producers should read and certainly the viewers to gain a different perspective.  What are your thoughts?
